Homemade Apple Sauce
6 to 10 apples peeled and cored (we use a variety of apples)
Put a small amount of water in a large sauce pan, enough so the apples won't scorch.
Cook apples over low to medium heat and let apples simmer until you are able to mash with a fork.
For smoother apple sauce, cook longer and continue mashing until desired consistency is met.
Add cinnamon and/or sugar to taste.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
4 sticks of margarine softened
5 cups sugar
5 cups chopped apples with skin
5 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
5 teaspoons cinnamon
Mix and pour into 12x17 inch pan.
Sprinkle a cinnamon and sugar mixture on top
Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
